Missy Lay is a lifelong resident of Rutherford County, having grown up between Murfreesboro and Smyrna and attending Rutherford County Schools before studying Business Management at Belmont University. Her deep roots in the community have shaped not only her career but also her passion for ensuring that Rutherford County remains one of the best places to live, work, and raise a family.

Missy excels in logistics and team building, skills that align seamlessly with her role as the owner of Wild Goose Chase Events. Now celebrating its eighth year, her company is known for creating unique experiences—scavenger hunts that highlight small businesses, interactive murder mysteries, and creative fundraisers that help local nonprofits thrive. Each event is designed with one purpose in mind: to bring people together while strengthening the economic and cultural fabric of the county.

For Missy, supporting local isn’t just a passion—it’s a responsibility. Small businesses are the backbone of a strong local economy, fueling job creation, innovation, and community connection. Her leadership reflects this commitment. She served as President of Locally Owned Murfreesboro for four years, championing the cause of independent businesses. She has partnered with nearly 20 nonprofits to help raise funds through engaging events. Over the eight years in business, she has helped raise of $500k for multiple nonprofits. Missy is also a co-founder of Rutherford County Pride, which builds safe, affirming spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies. Currently, she is an active member of the Murfreesboro Kiwanis Club, where she was honored as the 2024 Kiwanian of the Year for her outstanding dedication to community service.
