Every year we go through a tough application process to pick our 8 characters. Each year it gets harder and harder, but we think this year will be the best cast yet! We are grateful to these amazing humans because they all agree to raise a minimum of $1000 for our nonprofit, the Murfreesboro Kiwanis Foundation as well as play along as characters in our silly FUNdraiser.

Brett Garner – Mr. Green

I am Rutherford County born and bred and the youngest of five boys. My parents were long-time residents of Smyrna and now live with me in Murfreesboro. Sandra and I have been married almost twenty years after meeting during college at MTSU. She immigrated with her family to Tennessee from Switzerland when she a child. We built our multi-generational home on Haynes Drive in 2009 on property that has been in my mom’s family since 1947. Sandra and I have traveled much of the US and parts of Europe with the boys. Our favorites are Idaho and Sardinia, however there is nothing quite like home. Other than traveling, we enjoy spending time outdoors especially hiking. I am eight years into my career as a Realtor, currently with Keller Williams. Outside of work, I enjoy fixing things and woodworking. I love where we live and the community that we are a part of here.

Steve Fuchcar – Col. Mustard

Steve is just your average lovable CPA, or is he? Yes, he’s built a career in this community over the past 48 years and served the Kiwanis club as well as multiple other fine charitable organizations over that timespan, but what secrets lurk beneath the cover of CPA / client privilege? Probably not a thing. Or does something very dark lie below his charming and adorable persona? Surely he’s not capable of murder. Or is he? If you’ll support him in this year’s event, he’s promised to reveal special clues only to you. But is he telling the truth? Push the button and find out.

Kenzi Keene – Mrs. Peacock

By day, I am a proud local business owner, having run my own Farmers Insurance Agency for the past 14 years right here in the county where I was born and raised. Much like Mrs. Peacock herself, I have a “keene” eye for detail and a passion for making sure everything is in proper order, especially when it comes to helping others understand their insurance coverage. My true joy comes from making people feel welcomed and building relationships. I’ve been married to my wonderful husband, Michael, for 24 years, and together we’ve raised two amazing daughters who are now navigating adulthood at 19 and 21. When I’m not solving life’s little mysteries, you can find me enjoying the great outdoors: camping, soaking up the sun at the beach, or hiking new trails. Whether in business or in character, I believe a lot of heart and just a touch of curiosity go a long way.

Gregg McPherson – Professor Plum

I have been delighted to teach in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at MTSU since moving to Murfreesboro in 2019. When I’m not teaching science classes or tinkering with electronics, I can be found teaching Latin, swing, and ballroom dancing classes at Dance Murfreesboro or playing Brainiac Trivia with the team “Bet on Black”. These hobbies introduced me to a phenomenal group of Kiwanians who have figured out how to do good while having a great time doing it! I love playing board games and D&D, running with my dog Molly, and being found not guilty of 1st degree murder. To help me prepare for the potential role of a remorseless homicidal criminal, I have been closely consulting with my three cats.

Veronica Clark – Miss Scarlet

A fierce champion for small businesses, Veronica Clark leads with purpose, authenticity, and a massive heart for the Middle Tennessee community. By day, she guides entrepreneurs through government contracting as a counselor with the TN APEX Accelerator. Grounded by resilience and determination, Veronica is passionate about creating opportunities for others—and equally passionate about taking over the stage. Introduce a karaoke microphone, and she’s unapologetically belting out “Proud Mary” before you can even ask. She’s ready to bring that signature spark and dedication to this year’s mystery!

Jeff Carlton – Wadsworth

Jeff Carlton is a longtime Murfreesboro resident, Middle Tennessee native, and graduate of MTSU.  In his role as Sales & Marketing Director at Franklin’s PrintWorks, he has been consistently active in the community as a Diplomat with the Chamber of Commerce, a member of both Murfreesboro and Smyrna Rotary Clubs, and served on various nonprofit boards. He and his wife Lisa attend Experience Community Church, and Jeff enjoys art, exercise, and cycling.

Ella Britt – Mrs. White

Ella Britt moved to Murfreesboro in 2019 to marry the love of her life, David. They have 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren. Ella is a licensed therapist and has owned a private practice since prior to moving from West Tn. She now serves as Vice President of Community Outreach for Volunteer Behavioral Health, a nonprofit community mental health center. VBH provides services in 65 counties in Middle and East Tn, so Ella and her incredible team stay on the road most days. Ella’s favorite thing to do these days is to be “Nana” along with David, “Pa” spending time with their grandchildren.

Sonya Wright – Yvette

I’m blessed to share life with my husband, Chris, and our two children, Jack and Leah. Some of my favorite things include beach trips, game nights with friends, going to concerts, and staying involved in the community. I have a heart for serving others and love supporting local organizations that make a difference.
